Innovative Solutions for Fitting Outlets in Compact Drawers
Choosing the Ideal Product
For drawers narrower than the recommended 13" width for standard Blade Series Outlets, the Compact Vanity Outlet (available in 15 amp or 20 amp options) is your best choice. Although any Blade Series outlet can be installed into drawers as slim as 9" using our installation methods, the Compact Vanity Outlet streamlines the process. Its cable management arms are more compact (11" instead of 13"), so they need less clearance to operate smoothly behind the drawer, reducing the amount of modification required.
Tips for Installing in Narrow Drawers
- Cut a channel in the cabinet wall to give the cable management arms ample room to move.
- Take advantage of unused cabinet space by positioning the drawer so the cable management arms can extend freely into the open area.

“Today, we’re in Jan’s gorgeous bathroom, tackling a narrow drawer installation for our Docking Drawer. The drawer itself measures 10.5 inches wide—just right for our narrow drawer technique, which involves creating a passage between the drawer compartment and the sink area. We’ll be installing the Docking Drawer 1514-160 W, a top choice for bathroom vanities. I’ve already marked the cutout using our template, and now I’ll use my multi-tool to make the first cut in the drawer back. The cutout is done. Next, we’ll secure the outlet in the drawer and prepare the notch for the narrow drawer installation. To ensure the cable management arms have enough room, we need to carve a slot into the dividing wall between the sink and drawer bays. This lets the arms settle neatly when the drawer closes. I’m about to make the vertical cuts. Since the sink is nearby, space is tight, so I’ve rotated the blade on my multi-tool 90 degrees for better access between the wall and sink.”“All done! The Docking Drawer is installed using the narrow drawer method. You can spot the outlet at the back of the drawer. We tested it and everything’s working smoothly. A multi-tool made quick work of the channel inside the cabinet between the drawer and sink bays. Now, let me show you exactly where we created the channel inside the cabinet.”
