Video Walkthrough
View our installation tutorial to learn how to add a Safety Outlet with Blade Switch to your existing Blade Series in-drawer outlet. This upgrade increases safety by cutting power to the outlet when the drawer shuts—providing extra security for powered appliance or vanity styling drawers and helping Canadian users comply with electrical codes by de-energizing AC outlets as required.

Alright, I’m about to demonstrate installing a blade limit switch onto an existing Docking Drawer. Here’s the mounting pad, and I have the limit switch along with the small screw included in the kit. It’s a bit simpler to begin with the lower attachment point—let me get that secured. Now the limit switch is in place. You’ll notice it’s functioning as I open the drawer; it depresses the switch right here, just like that.
Next, I’ll show you how to adjust it. From this side, it’s a bit tricky for the camera, but I can loosen these small adjustment screws, allowing the limit switch to slide back and forth. For instance, since this drawer doesn’t fully extend, I can pull it out as far as it goes, position the limit switch where I want it to activate, and then tighten those screws.
As the drawer closes, the limit switch releases, cutting power to the outlet. When the drawer opens fully, the switch engages and power is restored. There’s a good range of adjustment so you can fine-tune exactly when the outlet turns on or off. The main goal is for the power to shut off as soon as you start closing the drawer. That’s all there is to it.
