Identifying and Fixing Problems with Drawer Slide Retraction
If your Docking Drawer Blade Duo or Blade is experiencing drawer pullback, try these troubleshooting techniques and suggestions to address the problem:
1. Inspect Cable Management Arm Positioning
Begin by checking if the cable management arms are running parallel. These arms are engineered to remain neutral—neither pushing nor pulling the drawer. If they’re misaligned, they can bind or cause the drawer to retract unexpectedly.
To test the geometry, loosen the three screws on the rear mounting bracket. This should release any tension or misalignment, allowing the drawer to operate smoothly. Observe the bracket’s movement to confirm if the arms are out of parallel. If they are, reposition the rear mounting bracket for proper alignment.
2. Allow for a Break-In Period
A slight drawer pullback of about one to two inches is often normal with a brand-new cable management system. Components may be tight from manufacturing and packaging, and will typically loosen up with regular use.
If the drawer is only retracting slightly, this may self-correct as the system breaks in and as more weight is added to the drawer. However, if the drawer is retracting a significant distance (such as halfway), this likely points to a more serious installation or alignment issue.
3. Double-Check Your Installation
If the above steps don’t solve the problem, verify that both cable management arms are installed correctly and securely.
Next Steps:
- Share a video of your installation with our support team so we can help assess whether the arms are mounted as intended.
- Refer to our detailed guide on leveling and centering the cable management arms to ensure everything is properly aligned.
