Stop potential appliance fires before they start with the Fire Guard Outlet, engineered to instantly cut power to connected devices when smoke or a sudden increase in heat is detected. Perfect for use alongside dishwashers, 3D printers, audio closets and with any other setup where appliances or devices are kept powered on while unattended.

Proactive Fire Prevention

A study by Consumer Reports using National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) data found that over half of residential fires across seven years involved appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators, and microwaves as the main source. The Fire Guard Outlet is purpose-built to connect to these high-risk appliances and help minimize the likelihood of fire or smoke-related damage. When smoke or a sudden spike in heat is sensed, the outlet will trigger an alarm, illuminate red, and instantly shut off power to both the outlet and any plugged-in devices—helping stop a fire before it can start. This crucial safety upgrade helps safeguard your home and delivers added confidence in today’s increasingly automated environments.

Straightforward Setup

This single-gang outlet (featuring one NEMA 5-15 or 5-20 receptacle and an interlock switch connector) is designed to replace your current junction box, while the integrated smoke and heat sensor is easily mounted near your chosen appliances. Although installation involves electrical work, it’s a manageable process for anyone with basic wiring skills. If you’re not familiar or comfortable with electrical installations, we recommend hiring a professional to ensure everything is set up safely and correctly.

Flexible Use Cases

Add an extra layer of protection to spaces where appliances are left running unattended—like dishwashers, gas dryers, AV closets, 3D printers, microwaves, lithium battery charging stations, grow lights, and more. The Fire Guard Outlet is also ideal for seldom-used areas such as attics, crawl spaces, and basements, where large equipment may be operating without supervision.

Meets Code Requirements

At Docking Drawer, safety is foundational to our product development. That’s why we thoroughly test every outlet and obtain the necessary safety certifications. The Fire Guard Outlet is ETL Listed for the US & Canada as an Interlock device, underscoring its reliability and compliance. This product is intended as supplemental protection and should not be used as a substitute for code-required smoke detectors.

Cordless Tool Charging Rack

I use cordless tools almost daily. I have my chargers all in my garage workshop area. After reading about Lithium Ion Battery fires I decided to add some protection to my charging rack. I bought the Fire Guard Outlet as one of two steps I took to better protect my garage / home from fire. The smoke and heat sensor for the FG Outlet is the only detector in the garage, so right off the bat I got more alert protection and the peace of mind knowing the power to my chargers would be disconnected should there be an “event”. I also added a timer to my charging rig to automatically turn power off after a preset time. More than once I’ve left Lithium Ion batteries to charge overnight; in my opinion a bad habit in one’s home.

Since many homes, like mine, have an attached garage with a workshop area, but typically never have a smoke or heat detector / alarm inter wired into the homes interior smoke detector(s) circuit the garage can easily be an undetectable source of fire; and there’s a lot of fuel in the garage to feed a fire.

I’m very familiar with electrical work, I found the installation of the FG Outlet very straightforward, and my opinion is the quality of the hardware is good.

As a former VFF I’ve seen the devastation fire can cause yo a home. Fire prevention , early detection , alarm(s), and good housekeeping can go a long way to save one from a very bad event.

I think using the FG Outlet in other closed areas of the home with appliance loads is going to be on my…
