Enhanced Safety Assurance
All Docking Drawer outlets are engineered with a built-in safety mechanism that will automatically shut off power if the temperature around the outlet rises above 49°C. For situations where heat-producing appliances are kept inside the drawer—like curling irons or toaster ovens—this product delivers extra protection by cutting power whenever the drawer is closed, and complies with CEC* requirements for high voltage outlets within the cabinet.
NOTE: USB-only in-drawer outlet configurations do not need to be paired with this product, as they are low voltage and, by code, can remain energized when the drawer is closed to charge devices.
Intelligent Operation
The Blade Switch installs onto the rear mounting bracket of your Blade Series outlet. When you open the drawer, the switch is pressed, activating the in-drawer outlet. As the drawer is closed, the switch releases, signaling the Safety Interlock Outlet to cut power to the connected Docking Drawer outlet. The switch can be fine-tuned to de-energize at your preferred drawer position.
Effortless Installation
Designed as a single gang electrical outlet, the Safety Outlet includes one NEMA 5-15 or 5-20 receptacle and a low voltage interlock switch connector. It fits neatly into a standard junction box, making installation straightforward. Attaching the Blade Switch to the rear mounting bracket of your Blade outlet requires only a screwdriver and the provided screws, allowing for quick setup and easy adjustment to ensure the switch operates at the right point.
Meets Electrical Codes
This system is fully compliant with both the National Electrical Code (NEC) in the US and the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)*, and is ETL Listed for the US & Canada. Docking Drawer’s advanced, patented safety outlets are designed to go beyond the basics, offering reliable automatic power disconnection for modern living—no manual intervention needed.
*Final approval for CEC compliance is determined by the Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
