Fire Guard Outlet™ for Home Fire Safety

A study by Consumer Reports using National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) data revealed that over half of residential fires—about 69,000 incidents over seven years—were primarily caused by appliances such as dishwashers, refrigerators, and microwaves. Safeguard your home and help prevent expensive fire and smoke damage by choosing Docking Drawer’s Fire Guard Outlets.

How it Works

Each Fire Guard Outlet is equipped with a Smoke and Heat Sensor that installs close to your connected appliances or device. If smoke or a rapid increase in temperature is detected, the sensor will glow red, activate an audible alert, and instantly send a signal to the interlock connector—cutting power to the outlet and all plugged-in devices before a fire breaks out.

How It Works

Docking Drawer’s Fire Guard Outlet is built as a single gang unit, with a NEMA 5-15 receptacle along with an interlock switch connector. Simply install the Smoke and Heat Sensor within any enclosed or partially enclosed area—if smoke or a fast temperature rise is sensed, the outlet will automatically cut power, shutting down any devices plugged.

Popular Applications

The Fire Guard Outlet is ideal for connecting to appliances like dishwashers, microwaves, gas dryers, and other devices that are frequently linked to home fire incidents. It’s also a smart choice for use with 3D printers, AV closets, tool charging stations, and in less-frequented spots such as basements, crawl spaces, chicken coops, and grow houses. Use this outlet to add an extra layer of protection for any equipment that’s left on and unattended, or in remote areas with continuously running devices like lights, fans, water heaters, air conditioners, and more.

“That’s the beauty of your [product]! It activates at the earliest possible moment and kills the power creating the opportunity for either self-extinguishment, or better yet, no fire at all. I teach a monthly fire extinguisher class where I tell the students that “if you can de-energize the equipment, 90% or the majority of time the fire will self-extinguish.”
